Moving at the speed of life...
I moved to Boston on July 3, 2008. Those of you who read
Jaffe regularly will recognize that date as (roughly) the day I disappeared. Sure, I've posted a couple of things since then, but nothing about life in Boston since the move.
A couple of weeks ago I got an email from Matt, a friend from grad school (who, incidentally, has the same birthday as me). The email was about raising money for the genetic disorder that is both Matt's clinical and research interest. He's running the Chicago Marathon along with some other people who have been touched by the disorder, called Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS). I'll add a link in the support sidebar, for those of you interested in reading more about this syndrome and supporting Matt in his first marathon.
Anyway, I had no idea that Matt was a
Jaffe reader, but his last line in the email was this:
P.S. If you get the chance drop me a note to with a quick update--your last blog update was in July....
The reason I started the blog was to give my friends back in London a chance to experience settling down in New York through my eyes. There are a lot of people that I knew I wasn't going to speak with weekly or even monthly, and I thought the blog would be the perfect way to stay in touch.
After two and a half years, I was back to settling down again, and I guess I let the blog get away from me. It's not that I haven't thought of posting, it's just that there has been so much going on that I haven't felt like a quick post here and there really captured how quickly things are moving here.
Quick posts are clearly better than no posts... thanks Matt.

Tweak Tweak
A new year calls for a little addition to
Jaffe. The banner at the top is a series of pictures taken by Antonio (Serena's brother) of me and Serena at the Naples Airport before I made my way back Stateside (grazie, Antonio!). Of course, the change to the layout couldn't have been done without Eric, my blog guru (תודה רבה, Eric!).
Also, the rest of the pictures from the vacation in Italy are up. Enjoy!

A slippery slope...
It's been a while since my last post. A day turns into two, then a week, and before you know it, a week turns into a while. Not to worry, all you
Jaffe readers, I'm still here, now more connected than ever.
That's right, I'm now a proud owner of...
an iPhone! (I have an amazing Channukah fairy)
In theory, this means I can blog from the road, posting entries and pics during my travels...
I love technology.

Tweaking Jaffe
With well over 100 posts, I thought it was time to add a
custom search engine, which you can after the
Archive section in the sidebar. Now
Jaffe readers can easily find their favorite posts.
Not to mention it will help me remember what I've written!

Improving your Jaffe experience
Even if Serena is correct, and there are only about 8 readers of the Jaffe blog, here are some suggestions to make your time here more pleasant.
1) Using the sidebarsThere are four sidebars on the right side of the blog:
'My New York pics' are links to online photo albums from walks around various areas of the city or trips/vacations to other parts of the world. Click on the date to go to the album.
'My New York picks' are links to restaurants, bars, or other places I've been. Normally there is a post about the place as well (for example, I add a link to each 'Restaurant of the week'). Click on the name of the place to take you to their homepage or an online review.
'Previous Posts' and 'Archives' are pretty self-explanatory.
2) Flickr badgeThere is a 'badge' on the right side of the blog, which displays random pictures from my latest big trip. At the moment, it's last week's trip to L.A. with Serena. If you click on a particular square, it will take you to the picture in Flickr. From there, you can view the other pictures from the trip.
3) Posting commentsI love hearing from the people who read
Jaffe, and although 'Anonymous' comments are welcome, it's great when people sign in! Don't be shy!
